Ljiljana Tanay Emil Robert Tanay
Liljana Zaninović Tanay was born on 17 October 1956 in Zagreb, Croatia.
She graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Zagreb and from postgraduate studies in international marketing at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. She started her career as a teacher at the Trade School in Zagreb and during that period she was a member of the Trade and Commercial Schools Programme Development Board. From 1982 to 1990 she was assistant principal in the Trade School. She has written numerous professional articles and handbooks in the field of goods technology and market research. In 1988 she and her husband started Studio Tanay, an education and publishing company (specialized in art education), which has gained a high reputation in art education through its numerous workshops and exhibitions at home and abroad. She has also written a textbook for students of the Trade School and the Commercial School.
Emil Robert Tanay was born on 7 March 1944 in Zagreb, Croatia.
He graduated from the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. From 1967 to 1972 he was associate at the Krsto Hegedušić Master Workshop. He specialized in fresco-painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1974. Afterwards, he became a teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb. From 1982 to 1988 he was counsellor at the Education and Pedagogy Institute of Croatia. In 1988 he became assistant professor at the Art Education Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he is today Professor of Art Education Teaching Methods.
Emil Robert Tanay has exhibited at home and abroad and has also shown in many group exhibitions. He was awarded first prize at the Fifth Biennial of Young Artists in Rijeka in 1971, and in 1974 he won an award at the seventh Young Artists' Salon in Zagreb. Besides painting, he researches teaching methods of art education and encourages artistically talented children. He is President of the Croatian Art Teachers' Association (an affiliate of the InSEA), vicepresident of InSEA and a member of the Croatian Fine Artists Association. He published two books and many articles at home and abroad. He is coordinator of the Art Education Board for primary schools and associate of the Croatian Ministry of Education. He runs the International Summer School of Art Education of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.
Emil Robert Tanay was received International Ziegfried's Award in 2001 for his contribution to art education.
